My name is Terry Coleman. In July, 2005 at the age of 54, I sang hymns for 40 hours and 17 minutes, 849 songs, to become the first person to sing hymns for a world record in the Book of Alternative Records and Record Holders Republic. I did this singing marathon to bring awareness to the plight of the homeless. I was featured in Ripley's Believe Or Not - Expect the Unexpected in 2006. A Ripley's cartoon of me was produced and distributed around the world in February 2006. My feat was also featured in The National Examiner magazine in May, 2006. I have appeared on Daystar Television Network in Denver, Co, the Hope Channel and I have been interviewed on the radio.
I participate with my church aiding the homeless periodically through the church youth Community Service program. I am an ordained deacon and a chorister.
I have a book titled "Don't Give Up, Don't Give In - A True Story of the Life Struggles of a World Record Hymn Singer. The book is my testimony. I plan to give a percentage of my profits to agencies that help the homeless - The National Coalition for the Homeless, the Samaritan House, the Denver Rescue Mission, and Season to Share. My book is available for order from Xulon Press at Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.Com
I believe with God, all things are possible.
I look forward to communicating with all of you out there. May peace be with you and remember, Don't Give Up, Don't Give In.

I applied for Guiness Book of World Records. They seemed not to have a category for hymns. Although, James Cleveland, Patti Labell, and Sandi Patti have been singing hymns for all of their lives. Why they denied me a category of hymns saying that they don't have it in their book. They have Hip Hop, Rock and Roll, why not hymns? I feel as though it is unjust, not to include me in the Guiness Book of World Records. Maybe it's because I'm a black man.
