Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, president, Phil Andrews honored as one of Kings of Queens (9496 hits)

QUEENS, N.Y. -- Queens, New York - On September 18, 2014 at Terrace on the Park Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s president, Phil Andrews was honored as one of the 2014 Kings of Queens. Thirty-nine Kings of Queens were honored for their outstanding leadership and contributions to the borough of queens. This signature event in the borough of Queens was the Queens Courier’s seventh annual “King of Queens Awards & Networking Event.”

“I am grateful to be honored as an Inductee of the 2014 Kings of Queens. As president of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. which serves Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, and Kings Counties our organization looks forward to impacting the borough of Queens in accordance with our mission.” Phil Andrews, President Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

The Mission of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. is to advance and promote economic development for business and to advance responsive government and quality education on the behalf of all small businesses, with emphasis on African Ancestry, while preserving the Long Island community”. Long Island means the New York State counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Kings. A Chamber of Commerce is one of the most well known and recognizable organizations in the country chartered to stimulate business in local and regional areas where they are designated to serve.

One of the chamber’s current goals is increase the number of Certified Minority Business Owners in its member network throughout the counties it serves. The chamber will be conducting a series of ongoing workshops geared towards increasing the number of certified business owners in its members network and will be working to attract additional members to the chamber of commerce that have a desire to be certified as minority business owners.

“The establishment of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. will provide significant opportunities for Corporations, Community-based organizations, and Small Business Owners in its member network to impact the region in a significant manner improving the lives of the citizens it serves in the local market it was designed to serve.” Phil Andrews, President, Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

The Chamber was established in 2010 by its founder John L. Scott and is currently led by its President, Phil Andrews.
