Step back with me and my darling little friends
Travel as far as I can see..
Faded little faces begin to surfaces in my thoughts
How we played together and laughter rang the streets
Those where the good ole days
Less complicated issues to worry about then
Only being with my lovely friends who I cherish and wished the days never end
Who liked me as I am
We laugh and played every day
Not worrying if we in society would be in harms way or separated
One day because the color of our skin
But now we all look both ways
Hoping and prays for better times
Disappear in the real world of today
Where the fun and make believe days, my friends
Have all forgot to learn to love and enjoy each other company still
Innocence lost in those days we played
The real world open up our little eyes
Bye...bye my friend
Goning on our separate ways, separate beliefs
The Playground is empty now as the memories of my little friends fade
There faces hidden in the shadows
Just memories of them surfaces as my children play now
I wonder will they remember their little friends smiles some day
As I did....
Their little hearts
Are bubbling with joy
Happy thoughts runs across my path once more
As I watch my own continue to struggle to feel free...
In a world made of two colors Black and white
Singing happy thoughts still
Of my little friends
Oh we dance
Our feets stomping loud as we played....no barriers
The color of skin....
